Former WHIPLASH Bassist Dies After Suffering Apparent Heart Attack
May 27, 2002Former WHIPLASH/INTO ANOTHER bassist Tony Bono passed away on Friday night/Saturday morning after suffering an apparent heart attack at the age of 38, ex-WHIPLASH/SLAYER drummer Tony Scaglione has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. A viewing will reportedly be held on Tuesday, May 28th at a funeral home in Bloomfield, New Jersey, with exact funeral arrangements yet to be confirmed.
Bono had most recently played bass and sang in FR8, a three-piece "heavy hard rock" act completed by guitarist Doug Dobol and drummer Spike. Photos of the group and several full-length MP3s of the band's music can be downloaded from FR8's official web site at this location.
Bono's tragic passing comes less than four months after his father, Vincent Bono, suffered a mild stroke, from which he has since fully recovered.
As a longtime acquaintance of Tony and the rest of the former WHIPLASH members, I would like to extend my condolences to Bono's family and friends over this devastating loss.
Tony, you will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, brother.
